I reckon we should go as well. Undernet does seem to suck more than any other network I know of ..

For a smaller server irc.osx86.hu seems to be a good choice. Either that or joining perhaps freenode? (lots of likeminded channels, and reliable - more than I can say for undernet)

Good suggestions.

For those worried that we'll lose stragglers, if we move I have no plans on closing #ugm on Undernet. It will stay up and running permanently, directing people to the new network/channel.

That said, keep the suggestions coming, as well as suggestions for networks to look into moving to.

Thanks for the input.

jinx.

If I recall correctly, Spratt_ said something about being kicked off of freenode a while back

there is the issue, with wherever we go, the place must ok what we stand for, and what we do (discusion of what we consiter for the betterment of computers, others can see as malicious crackers). I do not travel to the irc, for I do not much care for it in general. (im not much of a chat person in general)

Well we dont really talk about anything illegal or piratey that often, do we.... we just generally chat and sometimes help some poor misguided souls gain access to overweight girl porn sites ;)

But yeah, im not much of an IRC addict to know why people have a grudge against undernet or suggest some of my own, but if we move and we get more stuff im up for it ^__^

Damn! I remember that guy! Was something like plumpprincesses.com, no wonder he didnt want to tell us what the website was, until he had to :P

Thats funny, I don't remember seeing him around ever again after that...

But seriously, moving is a good idea

Nobody here feels like setting up a server of our own? :(

Would it be better to set up our own server or just used an already established, reasonably dependable server?

Either or is fine by me; so long as we don't flock to my network.

If we did do our own network I'd suggest using at least 2 servers with decent connections/UPS.
