holy shit.

glad to have it back.

this is extremely nostalgic.

JUST FOR TODAY my thoughts will be on my recovery, living and enjoying life without the use of drugs.

Really nice to find this active again. Good to see sprat_ and fire, too.

So what's the plan for increasing activity. I'd like to help wherever I can.

That's not going to be an easy task...  any idea where the mac ug is residing now a days?  We could slowly let people know  via forums/irc channels

depends what you mean by mac ug. i found these days, underground is broken up heavily into almost mutually exclusive groups.

for instance msj is still active, but so is the macintosh garden. i would say that both of these are part of the mac underground, but their priorities and ethics are rather different. however, there would almost certainly be a subset of those whose ideals are more or less in line with the community in the days of freaky, logik and team2600(which i was a member of).

i believe the thing that got people excited about the community and made them want to join was the belief that knowledge is free. this means the necessity to create something of use and give it away. whether this is information, hacks or warez.

i read another topic on this board where someone was interested in creating a zine. this is a great idea! it just never got traction for whatever reason. i'll happily put up my hand to help produce a ug zine.

another great idea on this board is the coding challenge. i did my first coding challenge on this board and gained an incredible amount of knowledge and satisfaction from it.

these are the types of things which i believe need promoting.

another thing i miss from days gone by is hotline/kdx/palace. i'd be interested in helping to code a torrent based version of hotline. i.e. you download files from whoever is online at the moment as well as chat, etc.

this is just a rant, which might not be very cohesive, but i hope the mac ug will be reborn.
